History

Craig Bragdy Designs has been in operation since the 1950s, in north Wales. In 2019 an exciting merger with Wafi Group completed marking the start of an exciting new chapter for the home grown brand.

1953

The first Powell pottery near Mold in north Wales, served both as a place to manufacture and a shop to sell from.

1961

After serving in the Merchant Navy during the second world war, Rhys studied and taught ceramics. He and Jean were later married and soon started the business together. Below: Rhys (Taffy) Powell, throwing a pot in Nannerch.

1965

1970

The 1970’s reeled in a new era for Craig Bragdy Design and brought the first mural for a large project outside the UK in the middle East. Today, 98% of our orders come from outside the UK.

2003

Purchased in 2002, the Craig Bradgy Design factory was purpose built and up and running by 2003. It later expanded in 2006 and is still operating today.

2012

As our product base develops and we receive more unique requests, Craig Bragdy Design continues to expand. Still small and personal, Craig Bragdy now employs over 80 artists, designers and support staff.

2019

Merger with Wafi Group.
